OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2009. The State Statistics Committee informs that most part of overall cargo (170.4 million tons) for Jan-Nov 2009 was transported by road 48.4%, via pipelines 33.5%, by rail 11% and by sea 7.1%.

The share of cargo carriages by private sector (rise of 9.2%) reached 73%.

For the reported term 1.2 bn passengers were transported that is by 6.7% more against Jan-Nov 2008. 83.7% of passenger carriages were carried out by non-state sector.

For Jan-Nov of the year it was carried 18.8 million tons of cargo by rail. It was loaded on average 629 wagons a day and unloaded 488 ones.

Over the last 11 months it was shipped 12.1 million tons of cargo that is by 12.3% more against Jan-Nov 2008. Of them oil made 75% and dry cargo 25%.

By road it was carried 82.4 million tons of cargo and 1 bn passengers that is by 5.6% and 7.3% more respectively versus the Jan-Nov 2008 figures.

Cargo transportation by buses made 96.5% and automobiles 3.5%. Motor cargo turnover increased by 5.5% and the passenger turnover by 8.5%.

By air 893,300 passengers were transported for Jan-Nov 2009. 89.7% of the passengers were carried by planes of state airlines and 10.3% by planes of private ones.

Transportation via domestic oil pipelines reached 46.5 million tons. Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipe carried 35.2 million tons of oil.

Turnover via domestic gas main pipelines increased by 3.3%, and 4.7 bn cu m of that gas volume was exported via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline. Total volume of gas carried for Jan-Nov 2009 totaled 10.5 bn cu m.
