Energocomfort Karelia Paid Fine for Unlawful Recalculation of Tariffs
OREANDA-NEWS. December 23, 2009. "Energocomfort. The Integrated Karelia Energy Supplier [Yedinaya Karelskaya Sbytovaya Kompania]" Ltd. ("Energocomfort. Karelia" Ltd.) paid a 6.5 million Rubles fine imposed by the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Republic of Karelia (the Karelia FAS Russia) for violating the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition". Currently the company is executing the determination of the antimonopoly body, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
In spring 2009, the Karelia FAS Russia discovered the fact of abusing dominant position by "Energocomfort. Karelia" Ltd. in the retail market of electric power within the boundaries of the Perozavodsk City District. The company unlawfully recalculated payments for electric power consumed by individuals in December 2006, December 2007, and December 2008 applying the tariffs set for the next year.
Later the Court of the First Instance and the Appeal Court confirmed validity of the conclusions made by the antimonopoly body and legitimized the size of the imposed fine.
At the moment "Energocomfort. Karelia" Ltd. is eliminating the consequences of the violations by recalculating unlawfully sent bills for the eclectic power consumed by individuals.
