OREANDA-NEWS. December 22, 2009. A new enterprise producing components for KAMAZ trucks – LEONI Wiring Systems (RUS) – was opened in Kama Industrial Park Master – KAMAZ’s partner in production of components (Naberezhnye Chelny).

The managers of KAMAZ Inc. and LEONI Group, the representatives of the Tatarstan Government participated in the opening ceremony.

Ravil Zaripov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan:

– Whereas the top managers of other companies say mostly about difficulties, KAMAZ has got a concrete development strategy, well-developed relations with colleagues, partners, competent managers. I think, this is due to everyday and difficult work of Director General and members of the Board of Directors, his colleagues. LEONI Company set up its enterprise in Naberezhnye Chelny, and this is not by chance. We are very grateful to the managers of the Board of Directors of LEONI Company for the fact that they managed to find a decent form of cooperation in due time.

I would like to wish the new business, the new company which was established here, on the premises of KIP Master, more orders. And it will be fruitful: KAMAZ will benefit from it outsourcing some of its businesses, and creation of new work places will be useful for the city.

Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc.:

– We are glad that the world company with such a respected name and reputation came to our city to work for our needs. I’m sure that this wasn’t a mistake because we believe in the future of our company and continue strengthening our positions on the market. I’m sure that we will not only go through the crisis with success, but also get out of it with new products, new quality and to a new position in the world “table of ranks”.

I consider that our companies will work jointly very well. Besides, I expect that cooperation with KAMAZ will bring good characteristics, recommendations for cooperation with other Russian companies for LEONI.

– The importance of the new LEONI plant and its prospects notwithstanding all difficult circumstances was already mentioned here. I should note that it is a great honour for the whole management of LEONI that so many authoritative guests from industry and politics support and help us in our investment. For this year only sales of motor cars were reduced by 50%, and sales of trucks were reduced almost by 70-80%. However, to date we observe stabilization of markets in Western Europe, America and Russia. And we can say that they will recover in the shortest period of time.

KAMAZ is still the largest truck producer, and our common decision about close cooperation in the sphere of design and production of the most reliable and high quality trucks will surely pay dividends in future.
