OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2009. International Launch Services has successfully recovered from a series of mission failures spanning 2007 and 2008 and has now firmly established itself as the integral commercial launch provider alongside Arianspace, reported the press-centre of Khrunichev.

The upsurge in ILS’s fortunes has been aided by its acquisition in May 2008 by long –term partner and supplier, Russian manufacturer Khrunichev. Since ILS’launch of the Inmarsat F-4 satellite in August 2008, the company has enjoyed an interrupted run of successful Proton flights.

Satellite Finance Assistant Editor Ronan Murphy spoke to ILS CEO Frank McKenna to learn how the business has benefited from the takeover, and how he envisages the launch sector developing in the near future.
