OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2009. After a very difficult period, which started in January this year and lasted until August, Ukrzaliznytsia’s freight transport results increased between September and November 2009.

In September Ukrainian Railways carried 3.5 million tons of cargo, in October 3.75 million tons and in November 4.2 million tons.

According to Railway Insider referring to the local media, a reason of this recovery is competitive tariffs established in agreement with partners from the Community of Independent States, especially Russian Railways RZD and Kazakhstan.

In the first 11 months of the year, Ukrzaliznytsia recorded UAH 5m (EUR 427,000) in losses.
