OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2009. Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow has passed sentence upon Saveliev V. A., born in 1967, finding him guilty of crimes set forth in Part 2 Article 327, Part 1 Article 306, Part 1 Article 307, Part 3 Article 30, Part 4 Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

On June 30, 2008 Saveliev V. A. insured a MAZ-630305-240 truck, manufactured in 2007, for RUB 2.3mln at Ingosstrakh IJSC. On October 31, 2008, Saveliev notified both the police and the insurance company that the car had been stolen and applied for insurance payments of RUB 2mln.

However, an investigation by the Data Analysis and Security Department of Ingosstrakh IJSC showed that the case in question could be a possible insurance fraud. Moreover, it was found out that two more criminals acted as a criminal group together with Saveliev V. A. and committed insurance fraud versus other companies. No payments were made to Saveliev V. A.

The collected materials enabled officers of Ingosstrakh IJSC to file a complaint with the law enforcement agencies. A consecutive investigation of the matter resulted in initiation of a criminal case under Part 4 Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Fraud). In February 2009 the members of the criminal group were arrested by the police.

Upon completion of the investigation, the case went to court and on November 16, 2009 the court found the members of the criminal group guilty as charged and sentenced them to 6 to 8 years in prison.
