OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2009. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev participated in the opening ceremony of the Turkmenistan - Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan – China transnational gas pipeline with the leaders of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and China in Ashgabat.

“The implementation of the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas project is in the interests of all involved sides,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the opening ceremony, whose words are listed in the press release of the press-service.

The pipeline will connect a network of fields in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and will be strategically important for the future economy of the region and markets in China and Southeast Asia, the information notes.

According to the report, the total length of the pipeline is about 7000 km, while there are 188 km on the territory of Turkmenistan, 525 km in Uzbekistan, 1,293 km in Kazakhstan and 4,860 km in China.
