OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2009. Beltelecom has launched its second Data Centre in Minsk at 8/2 Uborevicha str. The Data Centre comprises wiring closets for installation of customers’ server equipment. Expansion of Beltelecom Data Centre will allow different enterprises, organizations and hosting-operators to arrange secure information storage on the territory of Belarus and will provide prompt access to equipment, reported the press-centre of Beltelecom.

Government information resources as well as resources and data of legal entities and private clients are located in Beltelecom Data Centre. The capacities of the Data Centre are also used by hosting-operators for whom reliable system of equipment operation and 24-hour service support are available.

“Construction of the second Data Centre in the capital is conditioned by high demand for this type of service. Today Beltelecom is the largest hosting-operator in the country. Our task is to concentrate the content interesting for Belarusian users inside the country in order to make Internet traffic cheaper and more accessible”, – says Sergey Sivodedov, the Deputy Director General.

The Data Centre, located at 8/2 Uborevicha str. is connected to the central Data Centre (55 Zakharova str.) via 4x1Gbit/s optic links. Security of the Data Centre is organized in accordance with the standards of operability assurance and fault tolerance applied for such sites. It comprises comprehensive solutions for protection, power supply, fire fighting and conditioning of the facility.

There is 24-hour video monitoring in the Data Centre and access to the equipment is provided only for authorized specialists of partner-companies.

Sergey Furmanov, the Head of the International Switching Centre of Beltelecom, about technical solutions: “Our Data Centers are constructed in accordance with common standards. It facilitates management of the centers and makes them more secure. As an operator we have to create conditions of confidence and reliability for our customers no matter which site they use”.
The new Data Centre is equipped with 2 independent power nodes and an individual diesel-generator set in case of failure of external power supplies. Equipment is located on the specially designed false floor for better cooling, conditioning is provided by two systems. In case of emergency equipment safety is ensured by the gas suppression system.

Since 2006 Beltelecom has been developing the network of data centers on the territory of Belarus. The first Data Centre was opened in June 2006 in Minsk in the premises of the International Switching Centre at 55 Zakharova str. In December 2008 Beltelecom launched the network of regional data centers. The capacities of the Data Centre are used both by government and private clients and for provision of the company’s new services such as digital interactive television ZALA.

In autumn 2009 the premises of the first Data Centre in Minsk were extended. The additional premises used for installation of server equipment are also controlled by security systems.
