OREANDA-NEWS. December 16, 2009. "The project of the united sanitary protection zone of the Nizhnekamsk industrial hub” developed by TANECO has become a laureate of the 6th All-Russia Contest "National Environmental Prize”, reported the press-centre of Tatneft.

This project executed on the instructions of TATNEFT Company provides for an integrated approach in solving environmental problems for the 39 enterprises belonging to the Nizhnekamsk industrial hub. The following tasks have been identified among its main objectives: provision of sanitary and hygienic requirements for places of the permanent population residence at the territory of the adjoining industrial zone areas, landscaping and planting of the united sanitary protection zone and organization of environmental monitoring at the boundary.

The Award Founders are the Federation Council of Russia, the State Duma and the Foundation named after Academician V.I. Vernadsky, and the jury includes world class scientists. The commission received 162 applications for consideration in 2009. TANEKO has presented its project in the category "Ecology of the City" along with the projects presented by more than twenty participants.

TANECO is a subsidiary of OAO TATNEFT and performs construction of a refining and petrochemical complex in Nizhnekamsk.
