Freight One Begins to Haul Freight from Chelyabinsk Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2009. Freight One’s Chelyabinsk branch began to haul freight for export from OJSC Chelyabinsk Electrometallurgical Plan (OJSC ChEMK) in November. Freight One expects to have hauled more than 16,000 metric tons of products made by this company by the beginning of December.
The first group of cars with slag from OJSC ChEMK has arrived at Cape Churkin and will be delivered to Japan. Besides haulage for export, products from the plant have been sent to major metallurgical enterprises in Russia located on the South Urals, Sverdlovsk and Volga Railways. In particular, 14,000 metric tons of ferroalloys will be delivered to OJSC Ural Steel, OJSC CMP (Mechel), the Nizhny Tagil and West Siberian metallurgical plants and Volzhsky Pipe Plant (VTZ). Compared with the previous month, the volume of freight sent by ChEMK in Freight One cars rose by 4%.
"Hauling freight for metallurgical production in Russia and abroad is Freight One’s main activity in the Southern Urals region. Ferroalloys, ferrous metals and refractories from OJSC ChEMK, OJSC MMK and OJSC CMP account for up to 30% of the traffic of Freight One’s Chelyabinsk branch. Early next year we plan to expand our geographical reach and increase our export traffic by hauling asbestos for OJSC Kiembayevsky Mining and Enrichment Plant (Orenburg Minerals) to Southeast Asia," said Vladislav Yegorov, director of Freight One’s Chelyabinsk branch.
