EurAsEC PMs Signed 19 Documents in St. Petersburg
OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2009. Heads of the Governments of the EurAsEC member states signed 19 documents at a session in Saint Petersburg, Russia, reported the Official website government.by.
The EurAsEC Prime Ministers signed the following documents: On Formation the Customs Union and the Single Economic Area within the EurAsEC, the Draft Food Security Concept of the EurAsEC, and a draft agreement On Main Principles of the Currency Policy of the EurAsEC.
In addition, the sides signed a draft concept of the creation of the interstate databank on labor migrants from the EurAsEC member states, a draft concept of the interstate target programme on the reclamation of the territories of the EurAsEC member states suffered from uranium-mining, and a draft concept of the interstate target programme on the formation of the information support for the unified export control, and a number of other documents.
The heads of the governments of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation signed a package of the agreements in the area of technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary control, Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky told reporters in St. Petersburg.
“The sides have signed the five agreements which set up the legal base of the single customs area. These documents touch upon technical regulation, sanitary and phytosanitary control and sanitary standards,” Sergei Sidorsky said.
According to the Belarusian Premier, the signed documents will promote the free movement of goods within the framework of the Customs Union. Starting 1 January 2010, all the necessary regulations, technical, sanitary and phytosanitary, will be adjusted in line with the signed agreements. We will remove all the barriers which may hinder the free movement of goods in the single customs area, Sergei Sidorsky added.
1 January 2012 is set as a deadline for the formation of the single economic territory of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov told reporters.
“We have agreed to submit this issue for consideration by the heads of state in Almaty around 19-20 December,” Karim Masimov said. “The next stage of the integration - the establishment of the single economic territory – will be completed by 1 January 2012.” Some 75% of agreements needed to launch the single economic area are to be prepared in H1 2011, and the remaining 25% in H2.
“If experts step up their work, this process might progress faster,” the Kazakh Premier said.
