TATNEFT Develops Technology of Dual Completion
OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2009. OAO TATNEFT has been actively developing technologies of dual completion and production (DCP) of two or more layers through one well. DCP wells stock will reach 561 units in 2009 with the average daily oil production additional increase of each such well amounting to 3.8 tons per day in the current year, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.
The cumulative volume of additional oil produced as a result of DCP wells operation since the beginning of DCP application (since 2005) should amount to about 1,127 tons by the end of the year. Since 2007, the technology has evolved into the dual completion and injection (DCI), and this technology has already been implemented at 132 injection wells.
DCP and DCI allow most intensive development through application of the same well pattern for production from a number of layers with radically different reservoir properties, fluid composition and depth. These technologies also enable:
* reduce the amount of drilling through the use of one wellbore and the arrangement of simultaneous (concurrent) production of crude oil from different layers with application of one well spacing pattern;
* produce concurrently from a number of targets with different reservoir parameters and reservoir fluid properties;
* improve the wells productivity through optimization of the producing targets operation;
* improve profitability of individual wells through the involvement of other development targets or different layers of the same target with varying productivity.
Manufacturing of the equipment has been arranged at the production areas of TATNEFT in Leninogorsk. In general, the plans provide for expansion of the volume of the DCP introduction with the rate of 150-250 wells per year. The volume of additional annual crude oil production of these wells should reach 1 million tons by 2012. TATNEFT continues to develop this technology, in particular, for concurrent operation of 3 layers.
