OREANDA-NEWS. December 14, 2009. Construction works on establishment Big Ice Arena fundamental plate in Sochi are finished. Total volume of poured concrete is about 38 thousands cubic meters.

“Construction of the Ice Arena fundament is labor intensive process, — said Sergey Skryabin, PTO Chief of department on the Olympic Venues Construction of NGO “Mostovik”. — Construction works were going round the clock, more than 400 people are under this object, thousand cubic meter of concrete is laid a day."

This Arena in Sochi will have two ice grounds — training and central. The training’s fundament is made in several levels — with fluctuations from 0, 5 no 2 mm. Then by schedule — end of a montage of vertical constructions to a mark — 0, 1 m: walls, columns and stiffening core, a montage of metallic constructions of training field that will be located in a stylobate part of the building. Last week in Novosibirsk a model of future Ice Arena went through development testing in wind tunnel.By blowing results accounting wind and snow loadings on the building were calculated. It’s planned to set the object into operation in May 2012.
