OREANDA-NEWS. December 10, 2009. The session on preparation for celebrating the 90th anniversary of Karelia chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Victor Zubkov held on December, 2 in Moscow. Head of the Republic Sergey Katanandov has taken part in it. The delegation of Karelia also included the Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Government and the Official Representative of Karelia at the President of Russian Federation Anatoly Markov, Acting Assistant to the Prime Mnister of the Government and Chief of the Administration of the Head of the Republic of Karelia Lyudmila Kosyuk, Minister of Culture and Public Relations Galina Brun, Minister of Agriculture, Fish Industry and Ecology Grigory Manuylov, as well as representatives of federal ministries and business circles of the republic.

Making comments on the course and results of the meeting, Sergey Katanandov, in particular, said:– You know that preparation for celebrating the 90th anniversary of statehood of the Republic of Karelia goes according to the Decree of the President. Vladimir Putin has approved the corresponding Program. There works a steering committee chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Victor Zubkov. At implementation of the Program we had run into some issues demanding special consideration. In the list of objects there are financed both by the republic, and by the federal budget, and it demands coordination of activities. Unfortunately, federal money in some cases are not assigned in the volume necessary for duly completion of objects. The meeting in which representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Russia and other Ministries took part was devoted to discussion of these matters.

The key subjects of conversation were completion of construction of the Presidential Library in Petrozavodsk, completion of construction of the Study Local History Museum and construction of a new berry-processing plant in Tomitsy. Besides, we have raised a question of supporting Karelian militia so that by the celebration it would be armed at all points. Positive results were achieved on all points of issue, the decision was made that the Ministry of Finance will render us corresponding assistance. This makes it possible for us to say that all objects will be completed at a stated time, – Sergey Katanandov said.

According to the Head of the Republic, it concerns quite sizable money resources which Karelia will receive in addition for construction of the objects stipulated by the Program. For example, the Yagoda Karelii (Berry of Karelia) plant costs 560 million roubles. Basically it is the credit money. Of course, it is necessary to have support of the Government of Karelia to obtain these considerable resources from the bank. The library costs about 400 million, and the Federation should assign one half of the necessary amount. The Study Local History Museum costs 700 million roubles.– It is very important for us, – Sergey Katanandov has emphasized, – that people at such a high level are engaged in preparation of the celebration. Of course, participation of the First Deputy Prime Minister Victor Zubkov is a guarantee of successful execution of plans. Without him realization of the program would habe been impossible.

The next session of the steering committee will be held in Moscow in February.
