80% of Export Goods in Belarus Run through Electronic Clearance
OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2009. As of November 2009, more than 80% of export goods in Belarus are cleared at the customs using electronic ways of clearance, as reported by Vice Deputy of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Sergei Borisyuk at the web-seminar called ‘Customs e-clearance: potential and perspectives’, as Lesprom Network learned from the Belarusian embassy press release.
More than 1,300 enterprises use this scheme. In May 2009, only 7% of goods were cleared using computer. Electronic customs clearance means that export goods are cleared without contacting customs officials and without physical control of the goods delivered, Borisyuk said.
In the nearest future State Customs Committee is planning to implement online clearance in import deliveries too. ‘I think this project will be carried out in the first quarter of 2010’, Sergei Borisyuk supposed.
