OREANDA-NEWS. December 07, 2009. Agri-industrial holding "Astarta-Kyiv" has successfully finished autumn harvesting campaign. ASTARTA's regional subsidiaries harvested about 1 million 530 thousand tons of sugar beet and 153 thousand tons of corn, sunflower, and soybeans. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, ASTARTA saved the yield at the previous year level. Particularly, the average yield is 7.4 tons per ha for corn, 2.7 tons per ha for sunflower, and 1.6 tons per ha for soybeans.

As a result of harvesting campaign of 2009, the gross harvest of grain and oilseeds exceeded forecasts published before by 5% and reached 375 thousand tons.

As of December 3, 2009, ASTARTA's sugar plants processed over 1 million 360 thousand tons of sugar beet and produced more than 200 thousand tons of high quality sugar. Sugar plants continue the current sugar campaign in a good tempo that will help to complete it by late December, as scheduled before.
