RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. December 04, 2009. Over the week of November 23 – November 27, 2009, the RTS Index went down by 4.65% to reach 1,369.60 points (1,436.44 points as of November 20, 2009). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (minus 14.87 points) followed by ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (minus 11.24 points) and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (minus 7.73 points).

The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease closing at 1,340.49 points (1.50% down against 1,360.85 points as of November 20, 2009). Last week the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a negative trend. The largest decline was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index losing 5.16%. A significant decrease was also shown by the telecom and finance sector, with the RTS Telecom Index and RTS Finances Index shedding 5.15% and 4.49% respectively. Only the industrial sector demonstrated a growth trend, with the RTS Industrial Index gaining 2.38%.

Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.45% against the ruble to reach 28.88 rubles per US dollar (28.75 rubles as of November 20, 2009).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week November 23 – November 27, 2009 equaled USD9.83 billion (283.38 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,196.48 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,045.71 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD561.89 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD207.96 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 45.90%, 24.66% and 9.13% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association" (UFMO) that went up by 50.93% to USD0.649 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "AVTOVAZ" (AVAZ) – by 13.17% to USD0.61 and ordinary shares of SOLLERS OJSC (SVAV) – by 9.57% to reach USD16.6.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC "Uralsvyazinform" (URSI) that fell in price by 18.01% to reach USD0.0223 followed by ordinary shares of RAZGULAY Group OJSC (GRAZ) – by 16.22% to USD1.55 and ordinary shares of JSC "OPIN" (OPIN) – by 15.09% to USD45.
