OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2009. Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC won the Innovative Project Competition organized by the Administration of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District.

Scientists and engineers of the Centre “Environmental safety, energy efficiency and labour protection” as well as Salekhard Department “R&D support of integrated development of Yamal fields and adjacent offshore areas” got the first prize in the nomination “The best innovative solution in construction” (development of hydrotechnical measures to control river flows during extreme high waters on the Yamal Peninsula) and the second prize in the nomination “The best innovative solution in waste disposal and reuse of raw materials” (the promising waste management procedure during development of hydrocarbon fields of the Yamal Peninsula).

Gazprom VNIIGAZ is executive in charge for the Program of integrated development of Yamal fields and adjacent offshore areas. One of the top priorities of this Program is to minimize negative consequences of the industrial impact on the traditional lifestyle of indigenous peoples of the Yamal Peninsula and its ecosystems. In 2009 Gazprom VNIIGAZ organized and made the first expedition “Yamal-2009”. It brought together specialists from the major scientific institutions of Russia.
