OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2009. International Scientific Conference “Environmental safety in gas industry” (ESGI-2009) continues its work at Gazprom VNIIGAZ.

The main focuses of the Conference are environmental safety and environmental risk analysis; energy efficiency and resource saving; innovations in environmental safety; social and economic problems and human health; ways to reduce the impact of harmful factors on people and environment.

Deputy Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee A.G. Ananenkov took part in the Conference.

The Plenary Session comprised reports on development of Gazprom’s environmental management system; scientific support of environmental safety of Gazprom's priority projects; main environmental aspects of gas industry development in Russia.

The presentations marked that ISO 14001 requirements are accepted as the model of Gazprom’s environmental management system and the introduction of environmental management system is considered as one of the main means aimed at achievement of strategic goals set by Gazprom’s environmental policy. The system will allow to take into account both industrial and environmental interests.

ESGI-2009 brought together 290 delegates from 11 countries of the world. The Conference’s participants comprise: representatives of the Committee on Natural Resources, Nature Management and Ecology, State Duma, the Council of the Federation Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, World Wildlife Fund, MSU, Institute of Geoecology of RAS, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University), Ural State Technical University (USTU), E.ON Ruhrgas, Chevron, International Gas Union, Gazprom enterprises and organizations.
