OREANDA-NEWS. November 30, 2009. An official Quality Awards Ceremony was held in the Awarding Hall of the Russian Government House yesterday. The Government highly appreciated MMC Norilsk Nickel’s performance in 2008 and awarded the Company for its significant  results in the field of quality of products and services, as well as for implementation of efficient quality management methods. The Award was granted by governmental  Decree No.765, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.   

The Government Awards were bestowed by First Vice Prime Minister Mr. Shuvalov. MMC Norilsk Nickel was represented at the Ceremony by First Deputy General Director Mr. Matvienko, Deputy General Director and Head of Sales and Distribution Business Unit Mr. Sprogis, Director for Federal Authorities Relations and Labor Remuneration Mr. Poltavtsev, Director for Production Operations Management Mr. Ryumin.

An exhibition of information stands and an exposition of winners’ main products and services were arranged along with the Ceremony.

Quality Awards contest is held in Russia for the 12th time, and according to its organizers, it became a national program stimulating application of advanced management methods to strengthen sustainable production and products competitiveness. As noted by Mr. Shuvalov, Russian Government pays considerable attention to these issues. The national model of the awards is harmonized with high-status European quality award existing about 20 years. The first national quality awards were established in Japan over 50 years ago.

Norilsk Nickel being one of the industry leaders in the field of the effective corporate management, provides an unexceptionally high quality of its products even in the crisis period, noted Viktor Sprogis when receiving the Award. Having participated in the contest and having received an impartial estimation of the Company’s activities made by experts, who distinguished the strengths and indentified the areas to be improved, MMC Norilsk Nickel may use the obtained information for enhancement of the management system guiding by world trends in the sphere of quality, and for determination of priority ways to overcome the crisis.
