OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2009. According to the business weekly Kompaniya (Company), Sukhoi has become laureate of the Company of the Year 2009 prize in the Project of the Year nomination. The expert council, comprised of independent experts, representatives of business community, officials and noted journalists, acknowledged as most successful a program to build Sukhoi Superjet-100 medium-range passenger airliner. Its series production is taking place at a plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, incorporated by the aircraft production holding. The deliveries of aircraft to Russian and foreign customers will start soon. Today’s firm order book contains 122 machines.

Last year, Sukhoi also made impressive progress in the field of military aircraft production. In August, at the MAKS-2009 air show a contract was signed, the largest in the last decades, to supply 64 newest Su-35S, Su-27SM and Su-30M2 fighters to the Russian Defense Ministry. A state-sponsored contract, signed in late 2008, is being implemented. Under it, the Russian AF is to receive 32 modern Su-34 frontline bombers. The series production of this aircraft is established at the company’s aviation plant in Novosibirsk. The project to develop and produce the fifth-generation fighter has reached the stage of preparing the first flight, which is scheduled for late 2009. The military aviation products have been supplied to foreign customers. Talks are underway for new contracts.
