OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2009. SCF Group’s representatives participated in a series of events, arranged by Russia’s Ministry of Transport and devoted to the 200th Anniversary of the national transport industry and higher education in the transport sector.

On 20 November 2009 Sergey Frank, Sovcomflot President & CEO, made a presentation on “Improving quality of service as the main trend of transport complex development” as part of the International transport forum “Transport of Russia: formation, development, outlook”.

In his speech Sergey Frank underlined that in today’s market a “simple” transportation of cargo, not supported by extra services, has become less and less attractive to customers. Complex servicing has become more valuable, with transport services being supplemented by technological and logistics services. Mr. Frank acknowledged: “When we talk about transport and logistics support for the development of the offshore resources in the Arctic and Far-Eastern seas (one of the priorities in SCF Group progress), we mean construction and operation of offshore drilling platform supply ships in extremely low temperatures, floating gas liquefaction plants and ice-breaking type gas carriers with regasification terminal onboard. Such services are tightly connected with specific nature of concrete economic activities. By acquiring such a product, a customer gets a systematic, industrial solution, which, to a great extent, affects the quality of transport services in a modern interpretation”.

A day earlier Nikolay Kolesnikov, Sovcomflot Executive Vice-President, addressed the industry conference on the subject of “Investment attractiveness of maritime and river transport in Russia” and gave a presentation in which he informed the participants about the main directions of investment activities of the SCF Group in the mid-term perspective. Mr. Kolesnikov indicated that the main focus of activities will be construction of a highly efficient fleet, with an emphasis on resources saving and ecological safety; strengthening of the Group’s positions in the LNG transportation sector; servicing of offshore oil and gas development projects; terminal services and port operations, as basic elements of the main maritime trends. All these developments are included in the draft Strategy for Sovcomflot development for 2010 – 2015.
As a sponsor of events during the celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the national transport industry and higher education in the transport sector, SCF Group was awarded a special Certificate of commendation, granted by Igor Levitin, Russia’s Transport Minister, at the State Kremlin Palace.
