OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2009. On Latvia-Belarus state border between stations Indra and Bigosovo there were completed construction works of the second track, which will further allow increasing cargo throughput between two countries, reported the press-centre of LDz.

Although the second track is planned to be put into exploitation next year in spring, because installation of signaling systems is not yet completed, the completion of basic works and construction of last rail are done following railway traditions – with participation of managers and workers. Representatives from Belarusian railway will also participate in the completion of construction works of the second track on Latvia-Belarus state border.

“This project is very important for us, because it will allow to increase cargo throughput in this rail corridor. It will allow to attract more cargos for carrying in this corridor and will ensure higher income to the state,” said LDz Chairman of the Board Ugis Magonis.

The construction of the second track is financed by LDz, state and the EU Cohesion fund resources.
