OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2009. Negotiations between direction of Nakhodka ship repair yard and Norwegian Company AKER SOLUTIONS finished with the conclusion of an agreement on bilateral cooperation. Specialists of NSRY will make metal structures for future drilling rig, which will be used under the "Sakhalin-I" project.
Specialists of Nakhodka ship repair yard already worked with AKER SOLUTIONS under the "Sakhalin II" project in 2005. They were engaged in the construction of concrete gravity base structures for platforms. Russian and Norwegian specialists worked under the slogan "Two platforms – one team" that time.
At present, specialists of NSRY have to make parts of the ballast system for drilling rig being constructed at the Arkutun-Dagi oil and gas field, which is located approximately 25 kilometers off the northeast coast of Sakhalin Island.
According to the words of project director of AKER SOLUTIONS, new project is a unique one, because steel with 6% of molybdenum will be used for making the metal structures. Professional specialists, well-equipped workplaces and large floor spaces will be required for this job. That is why Norwegian Company chose Nakhodka ship repair yard once again.
