AeroSvit Starts Engine Wash & Cares about Environment
OREANDA-NEWS. November 26, 2009. “AeroSvit – Ukrainian Airlines” has implemented the technologies to reduce fuel consumption of its aircraft and to cut air emissions, reported the press-centre of AeroSvit.
CFM56-3 engines of AeroSvit’s most numerous Boeing-737 aircraft, now undergo engine core wash procedure.using Multi-Engine Compressor Washing Rig by Juniper (Liverpool) Ltd. Regular engine core wash increases operating cycle between planned checks and fuel efficiency, improves temperature margin, and decreases their operating costs.
Increasing fuel efficiency would allow cutting CO2 emissions (according to IATA, aviation produces 2% of total amount of CO2 emissions).
PR director of “AeroSvit” Volodymyr Gaidash noted: “Soon we will perform engine wash for Boeing-767 aircraft as well. We expect to decrease fuel consumption by 3% per year. Here I am talking about three thousand tons of fuel, and this means great contribution to environmental protection”.
