OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2009. Cotton growers in Ahal Velayat reported on the fulfillment of the contractual obligations on raw cotton production. They delivered over 205,000 tons of ‘white gold’ to the receiving points.

This year 120,000 hectares in the etrap were sown with this valuable crop. Local farmers sowed fine-stapled and middle-stapled cotton varieties.

On this remarkable occasion – the glorious labour victory of agricultural workers the meeting that brought together the heads of the velayat agro-industrial enterprises, grain growers, the specialists of etrap khyakimliks and the members of public organisations was held at the Ahal Velayat Khyakimlik. The participants expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the unceasing concern for agricultural workers, the task-oriented measures to modernize the agro-industry sector and bring it up to a high level. Having achieved the impressive results in the ‘white gold’ campaign this year Ahal grain growers expressed the readiness to fulfill further the contractual obligations, raise agricultural output and thus contribute to increasing the wellbeing and prosperity of the Motherland.

Cotton growers of the farmers associations in Ahal will reap the ‘white gold’ harvest without loss. They have started to prepare the cotton fields for the next year’s harvest.
