OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2009. In January-October 2009, the retail trade in Moldova amounted to 16 billion 215,1 million, decreasing by 4,7% in the nominal terms as compared with the same period of the last year.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, this decline was mainly due to the reduction of sales of the non-foodstuffs by12,9 %, which share made 64,6 % in the total amount of retails (69,1% in January-October, 2008).

At the same time, the sales of the foodstuffs have increased by 12,3 %, making 35,4 % in the total amount of retails ( 30,9% in January-October, 2008). The decrease in volume of retail trade was registered at the enterprises of mixed (public+private) ownership as well as public and private forms of ownership- by 11,2 %, 10,7 % and 6,8 %, respectively.

At the same time, the enterprises of joint (with participation of foreign capital) and foreign forms of ownership have increased their sales volumes by 1,2 %. As of November 1, 2009, the existing commodity stocks of the commercial enterprises have made 5 billion 022,8 million leis, having increased by 11,9 % as compared with the same period of 2008.

The largest share in the total amount of sales belongs to Chisinau – 55,5 %, Balti – 8,7 %, Gagauzia – 3,1 %, Orhei- 2,2 %, Cahul – 2,1 %, Ungheni– 1,8 %, Edinet – 1,8 %, Soroca and Drochia areas-1,7 % each. According to NBS, in October, 2009, the retail trade of enterprises have made 1 billion 791,5 million leis, having decreased in the real terms by 3,6 % as compared with the last month and by 6,5 % as compared with October, 2008.
