OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2009. According to the information available to IC ROSNO, an increasing number of OMTPL clients are applying for compensations under the direct OMTPL loss settlement system effective since 01 March 2009. Among the cities of the Ural Federal Okrug, this system has been most actively adopted by Yekaterinburg, Kurgan, and Tyumen. These three cities account for two thirds of total payments made by ROSNO’s Ural Directorate under the direct loss compensation system since its introduction, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The quantity of client applications is growing slowly, yet steadily. While the Ural Directorate recorded just one such application in March to May, it saw 6 applications in July, and in November it witnessed a rapid growth in the number of those willing to receive compensation from their own insurance company: in the very first days of November, the Directorate received 28 applications.

“Apparently, this is the result of exclusion by the RSA of one of the restrictions imposed on the direct loss settlement system — effective from November, the system covers all OMTPL contracts, including those concluded prior to 01 March 2009. This measure will, undoubtedly, entail an increase in the number of clients willing to make direct applications to their own insurance company”, notes Mr. Viktor Berezhnov, Executive Director of ROSNO’s Ural Directorate.

Meanwhile, despite the stable trend for increase in compensation of losses incurred by the parties involved in traffic accidents under the new system, the share of compensations paid within this system accounts for no more than 5% of the aggregate quantity of OMTPL insurance compensations paid by the Ural Directorate (monthly, the Directorate pays about ten million roubles under the OMTPL system). Since introduction of the new system by ROSNO’s Ural Directorate, the aggregate volume of direct OMTPL loss compensations equalled 275,184 roubles.
