IBS Automates Duty Free Partners Retail Chain at Sheremetyevo-2
OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2009. IBS specialists are automating the business processes employed by “Duty Free Partners”, the operator of the duty-free retail chain at Sheremetyevo International Airport, reported the press-centre of IBS.
Duty Free Partners LLC is a Russian-German company established in partnership with the Gebr.Heinemann holding (Germany). The company operates the duty-free retail chain at the Sheremetyevo-2 complex of Sheremetyevo International Airport. Gebr.Heinemann is one of the world’s leaders in the travel retail sector. The company distributes products for the travel retail sector both to third party customers and to its own retail operations thanks to a sophisticated logistics based in Hamburg. Gebr.Heinemann has been distributing in the region since the 1990’s and setup its first affiliate in Russia in 2008.
The project was initiated to automate the business processes used in commodity operations ranging from delivery of commodities to their sale through the Sheremetyevo-2 duty-free retail outlets, as well as in preparation and retention of all applicable documentation. IBS was selected as the contractor for its successful implementation of a similar project commissioned by “Travel Retail Domodedovo”, a duty-free retail operator and a Gebr.Heinemann daughter company.
Microsoft Business Solution Navision 4.0 and LS Retail NAV, a specialised retail management solution, were used to design the platform for the “Duty Free Partners” IT system. Not only does IBS deploy these solutions, but it also supplies POS-terminals, servers, active network equipment, and system software.
The system will encompass such business processes as product management, downloading of the commodity catalogue from the Gebr.Heinemann central database, management of certificates (including the monitoring of their expiry dates), management of procurement, supplies, and warehousing, commodity logistics, pricing and the loyalty system, retail, customs procedures and reporting, uploading of sales data to the Gebr.Heinemann central database, and uploading of accounting system data.
The project aims to design a system that implements retail-specific business processes, such as accounting of commodities in compliance with customs declarations and various customs regimes, customs regime changes, generation of requisite customs reports, accounting of sales performed by retail outlets that operate round the clock, and acceptance of payments in any currency.
The project was launched in August 2009 and is to be completed on a tight schedule: the system is already being operated by the “Duty Free Partners” central office. By the end of the month the system is to be launched at 10 retail outlets and the company’s warehouse. The system is designed to be operated by 20 users.
