Round Timber Exports in Latvia Decreased by 35,2% in Jan-Sep
OREANDA-NEWS. November 23, 2009. Over the first nine months of the year 2009, Latvia exported 1.67 million cubic meters of round timber, which is a 35.2% drop compared to export of 2.58 million cubic meters of round timber in the same period last year, as The Baltic Course informed Lesprom Network.
The value of round timber exported in January-September this year was LVL 47.43 million (US99.3 million), which is a 54.6% plunge compared to the results of the first nine months of 2008, when the total worth of exported round timber reached LVL 104.51 million (\\$219 million).
966,000 cubic meters of coniferous round timber and 713,400 cubic meters of deciduous round timber were exported from Latvia during the first nine months of the year. Latvia exported 602,800 cubic meters of conifers to Sweden, or 32.6% less than in January-September 2008. 160,300 cubic meters (27% decrease) were exported to Finland, and 143,400 cubic meters (24% drop) to Estonia. 568,000 million cubic meters of deciduous round timber export went to Sweden, which, however, is 31.5% less than in the first nine months of 2008.
