BTA Bank Plans to Decrease Rates 1 December 2009
OREANDA-NEWS. On December 1, 2009 BTA Bank is decreasing maximum interest rates for deposits of individuals. The correction will cover the whole line of term deposits, reported the press-centre of BTA Bank.
According to the Chairman of the Board of the Bank Ms. Elena Messerle, “the whole line of deposits of the Bank is going to be decreased by several percentage points. This measure is caused by the market situation, which sees general decrease in ruble rates for deposits of individuals and by successful drawing of funds over the previous months, which lowered the need of the Bank in term deposits of individuals."
According to the data as of October 28, 2009 the number of opened term deposits with BTA Bank is 22.4 ths. The portfolio of term deposits as of the date mentioned totals 6.5 bln rubles, demand deposits not taken into account. The growth rate of the volume of deposits, drawn as of the similar date in 2008, totals 74%.
Moreover, from December 1, 2009 BTA Bank is going to stop taking funds into the Urozhainy deposit, which, being a seasonal offer, was the leader of sales among the Bank’s deposits in August – October, 2009. Before the end of November the Urozhainy deposit may be opened for 181 days under 17% per annum, for 91 days under 16% per annum or 61 days under 15.5% per annum. The minimum amount necessary to open the deposit is 15 000 rubles. When opening a term deposit, every customer of the Bank, regardless of the term and the amount of the deposit, gets a debit card VISA or MasterCard with free-of-charge issue and service during the whole term of the deposit.
