OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2009. The cotton picking campaign is in full swing on cotton plantations throughout Turkmenistan. Agricultural workers in Serahs Etrap in Ahal Velayat reported on the fulfillment of the contractual obligations on raw cotton production. They delivered over 25,000 tons of ‘white gold’ to the receiving points.

13,400 hectares were sown with this valuable crop in the etrap. Local farmers sowed middle and fine-stapled cotton varieties. Of 11 farmers associations in the region Bereket S. A. Niyazov farmers association, O. Salyr farmers association, A. Tekaev farmers association fulfilled the contractual commitments, thus contributing to the common labour victory.

Cotton growers use every hour to reap the harvest of ‘white gold’ without loss and thereby significantly contribute to implementing the agricultural reforms initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to create the conditions conducive to the fruitful labour and wellbeing of Turkmen farmers.
