“Engineering Center UES” Acted as Moderator at Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2009. In the framework of the 3rd International exhibition “Power Engineering. Electrical Technology and Industrial Electronics” a conference “Energy Engineering- Development Issues” was held on November 12. Representing “Engineering Center UES” Mr. Evgeniy Getmanov, Deputy Engineer in Chief of “Institute Teploelectroproject”, branch of “Engineering Center UES”, hosted a business program and presented a report “State of modern energy engineering market”.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the most urgent issues associated with the development of energy engineering in Russia, search for optimal ways and coordinate efforts.
The subject matter of the conference aroused strong interest; 10 reports devoted to various fields of power engineering were presented. Among the participants there were leading energy engineering companies of Russia, representatives of industry and science. The conference triggered discussion of difficulties that emerged during the time of crisis and ways to overcome them that companies are working out. “Engineering Center UES” presented the comprehensive analysis of the situation in power engineering sector, touched upon problems of power generation and engineering, and presented a forecast of further development of the industry.
The report presented by the Company dealt with one of the most burning current problems - revision of the General arrangement scheme for power engineering facilities. From the point of view of “Engineering Center UES”, the scheme must be updated not only with due regard to the current situation in energy sector but also from strategic position – it should also take into account the radical transformations that are expected in the energy industry in the short - and mid-term. These include the startup of capacity market (which will mean generating companies’ greater responsibility for the supply obligations), revision of the industry strategy with enhancement of reliability (which will entail higher expenses for maintenance and repairs and introduction of new technologies at the existing and new facilities), reconsideration of power engineering parameters in response to change of economic situation in Russia (switching over to innovative development and new stage of economy growth).
