KAMAZ Moves to South
OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2009. The exposition of KAMAZ became one of the most outstanding shows in the Russian and automobile sectors at the 18th Vietnam International Industrial Fair VIIF-2009 which opened in the capital of the country – Hanoi on 20 October.
The visitors of the exhibition and experts saw a popular dumper truck KAMAZ-6520 (6x4) with payload of 20 t which is in Vietnam customers’ special demand, a four-axle vehicle KAMAZ-6540 (8x4) the chassis of which are used as the basis for construction and other equipment, a truck tanker VMIC-12.5 (12.5 cubic metes) on KAMAZ-53229 chassis there.
The Vietnam market has always been one of strategically important and priority foreign markets for KAMAZ. According to the company’s managers, Vietnam is a basic country for extension of KAMAZ’s external economic ties and business in the whole Asian-Pacific region. The representative office of ZAO KAMAZ Foreign Trade Company works in Hanoi. In 2003 VINACOMIN State Corporation became the strategic partner of KAMAZ Inc. in Vietnam.
When President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet visited Moscow, a general agreement on cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation was signed. As part of this cooperation agreement with VINACOMIN and in its performance, an assembly production of KAMAZ vehicles – VMIC Company (Vinacomin Motor Industry Joint Stock Company) was established in Cam Pha (Quang Ninh Province), and in 2009 KAMVIA Trading and Service Company (Kamaz-V-Itasco Automobile Joint Stock Company) was created.
About 15 thousand KAMAZ vehicles are currently used in Vietnam. Therefore the next task of KAMAZ and its Vietnamese partners is to create a service network on the whole territory of Vietnam. Besides, there are intentions to develop production of vehicles and special equipment in Vietnam. In particular, it is planned to increase the existing assembly capacities.
