OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. Industrial Union of Donbass initiates the imposing of a moratorium on the increase of harbour dues for the mills of mining and steel industry. A correspondent from RBK-Ukraine says it was announced today by Sergey Taruta, ISD Chairman of the Board of Directors at the meeting in Mariupol.

“We coordinated the issue with the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Unfortunately the item was omitted while preparing the previous draft of the memorandum with the government. The management of the ports made use of it and they receive super profit which not always comes into the state budget”, — he said.

Let's recall that in November 2008 the Government and the owners of the enterprises of mining and steel industry sector have signed a memorandum about the mutual understanding, which provides for imposing of a temporary moratorium on the increase of tariffs on railroad transportation, gas and electric energy for the mills of the branch.

Today in the course of the meeting with the management of mining and steel industry enterprises in Mariupol, Yulia Timoshenko has recommended preparing and reviewing at the session of the government the draft of the regulation providing for prolonging the action of the memorandum for the first half of 2010, since its term expires on the 31 of December.
