OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. “The opening of a new office of People's Bank in Astana shows the output from the crisis and the beginning of further development of banking sector,” Mayor Imangali Tasmagambetov of Astana said.

“The Bank found financial funds for the construction of spacious office which gives an opportunity to carry out all types of banking operations in the city,” he said at the opening ceremony of the new building of People's Bank on Wednesday.

Mayor noted a significant role of People's Bank in the economy of Astana.

Despite the difficult period, the bank didn’t reduce the bank lending volume of small and medium businesses, providing about 62% of the gross regional outputs.

 “The opening of the bank office in Astana marks the increasing role of capital in the financial market of the country and movement toward the center of business activity,” Mayor said.

According to Chairman Alexander Pavlov of the Board of Directors of “People’s Bank of Kazakhstan” JSC, a new office was built on the instructions given 3 years ago by the President of Kazakhstan.

“More than 3 thousand corporate clients service in our bank. There are our companies, national holdings, small and medium businesses. They will receive all range of banking services on a high-level. We are a socially-oriented bank, serving 70% of pensioners living in Astana city” Alexander Pavlov said.
