Turkmenistan and Germany Outlined Priority Fields of Partnership
OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, who had arrived in Ashgabat leading the business delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany.
This Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations represents Germany’s economic interests in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, as well as in Central Asia. It was founded in 1952 as a joint organisation of the leading associations representing Germany business. It is supported by the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the Association of German Banks (BdB), the German Insurance Association (GDV), the Foreign Trade Association of the German Retail Trade (AVE), as well as the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH).
Thanking for the opportunity of a personal meeting the guest said that he was glad to visit Turkmenistan – a country that Germany viewed as a dependable and very promising partner. Mr. Klaus Mangold said that he considered it great honour to be received by the President of Turkmenistan, with whom he had met a year ago during the Turkmen leader’s official visit to Germany.
Greeting the head of the authoritative economic institution of Germany, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that traditional cooperation with Germany, the assets of which included the long-term experience and successful results of the joint work in various fields remained a key aspect of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy strategy.
During the meeting the President and his guest discussed the most important aspects of cooperation in compliance with the agreements reached.
The priority fields of partnership included textile and chemical industries, agriculture, transport and communications, in particular road construction, high technologies, etc. Particular emphasis was put on intensifying humanitarian contacts in the sphere of education in particular.
In conclusion the sides expressed belief that the positive experience of cooperation and mutual willingness to intensify it would be embodied in new joint projects that would promote strengthening and developing traditional friendship and fruitful Turkmen-Germanic partnership.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany in Turkmenistan Rainer Morel attended the meeting.
