Khazar Tanker Moored to Loading Berth of Oil Terminal
OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. Several days ago the Khazar tanker moored to the loading berth of the oil terminal in Yekerem settlement. Making the maiden voyage the tank ship delivered diesel fuel and benzine for the oil-and-gas producing and other industrial enterprises in Esenguly etrap situated on the southwestern coast Caspian Sea.
The Khazar tanker is one of two large-capacity vessels that have recently replenished the fleet of Turkmenistan. It is symbolic that the Khazar tanker moored the loading berth of the Turkmenbashi sea port on October 27 when the country was celebrating the 18th anniversary of independence. The President of Turkmenistan congratulated the port workers on the remarkable event – the beginning of the labour activity of the Khazar tanker.
With every passing year sea cargo transportation acquires greater importance for the foreign economic relations of Turkmenistan, the development of which is an essential aspect of the economic policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. For its advantageous geographical location Turkmenbashi international sea port is the largest transit nodal point of the Europe-Caucasus-entral Asia transport corridor. The terminals in the harbour of the Caspian Sea handle dozens of thousands tons of goods delivered to Turkmenistan and transported abroad every month. As is known, in a few years the new sea port supplied with state-of-the-art equipment that will comply with the status of the main ‘sea gateway’ of Turkmenistan will spring up on the seashore.
The new vessels including the oil tankers Khazar and Sumbar that added a new page to the history of Turkmenistan’s fleet will promote enhancing international transport cooperation increasing the freight rate transported across the territory of our country.
