OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. The session of Syrdarya regional administration discussed the results of socioeconomic development in the first nine months of this year and implementation of measures outlined by President Islam Karimov on 13 February meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, including priority tasks of deepening economic reforms. The meeting was chaired by acting hokim of Syrdarya region O. Ashurmatov, reported the Official website gov.uz.

In the nine months of this year, the growth of the gross regional product made up 4%, production of consumer goods rose by 6.4%, construction works by 27.2%, paid services by 18.9% and retail turnover by 17%.

In 2009, the region had attracted foreign investments of USD 9.642 million. As a result, joint ventures like Peng-Sheng to produce shoes and ceramic tiles, JMP International producing fruit juices, Oqoltin, Miles Gulistan Textile and Yangiyer-Engin-Textile specializing in textiles, Inter Milk and others were launched.

At the meeting special attention was paid to the task of preparing the sectors of the economy, housing and social sectors to the autumn-winter period, establishment of adequate supplies of fruits, vegetables, potatoes and other food products.
