Navoi Region Increases GRP by 7,9%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. The session of the Navoi regional administration considered the results of socioeconomic development in the first nine months of the present year, reported the Official website gov.uz.
The gross regional product of Navoi region in January-September increased by 7.9%, it was said. The industrial production grew by 1.8%, agricultural production by 6.9%, service sector expanded by 18.9% and construction works by 16.6%.
A total of 31,181 new workplaces were opened in the region in the reporting period due to development of small business and private entrepreneurship, service sector, poultry and fish breeding, as well as increasing the capacities of the industrial enterprises.
The role of the private sector in the economy of the region continued expanding thanks to the tax and other preferences. 2,191 small and private business entities were created in nine months, providing almost 1,500 people with jobs.
Over the nine months, foreign investments in the volume of UZS 13.7 billion were attracted to Navoi region, of which UZS 1.3 billion were direct investments.
In the framework of the Year of Rural Development State Program, 72.6 km of water pipelines were laid in 24 settlements, and 49.6 km of water pipelines were repaired and 25.6 km of new gas pipelines were laid in 24 villages.
In Kuzultepa, Karmana and Nurata districts, construction of 60 modern individual houses started, financed by Qishloq Qurilish Bank.
Vice Prime Minister of Uzbekistan E.Shoismatov participated in the session of the Navoi regional administration.
