Moldova Abolished Application of State TM for Alcohol Export
OREANDA-NEWS. November 12, 2009. To do this, the Cabinet has amended the law on production and turnover of alcohol beverages and ethyl alcohol. In addition, it abolished compulsory certification and assessment of quality of the each batch of the exported wine products.
As the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc noted, the introduction of the state trade mark for alcoholic beverages sent for export, has negatively affected the activities of the Moldovan wineries, resulted in the additional costs for the purchase of the excise stamps and labeling of alcohol goods, had increased its costs and reduced competitiveness at the foreign markets.
According to the Agro-Industrial Agency "Moldova-vin" and SE "Fiscservinform", from December 2006 to September 2009 alcohol goods producers had purchased 209.5 million trade marks at the price of 0.2 leis per 1 mark totaling US41, 9 million leis. The Minister of Agriculture stressed that changes aim to promote export of the Moldovan wines and spirits.
It can be reminded that since January 1, 2007, the ban on the export of alcohol goods without the state trademark was imposed in Moldova. It was introduced in order to strengthen quality control of alcoholic beverages, to expose producers of poor-quality products, as well as to ensure objectivity of audit results during export of alcohol goods.
Under current legislation, excisable alcohol products are marked with "Excise mark. The State Trade mark”. The mark was issued by the General State Tax Inspection for fee. The Agro-Industrial agency "Moldova-vin" was also entitled to sell "The Trademark", intended for export of alcohol beverages through SE “Centrul de evidenta a circulatiei alcoolului etilic si a productiei alcoolice”.
