OREANDA-NEWS. November 11, 2009. Several sections of the MKAD, the road encircling Moscow, are to be expanded by at least a lane.

The number of lanes varies from 4 to 6 in both directions at various sections of Moscow’s orbital motorway.

Head Architect of Moscow Aleksandr Kuzmin told journalists on November 6 that Mayor Yuri Luzhkov had charged the city authorities with designing the possible widening of the MKAD.

The draft design will be aimed at expanding not the whole road but a number of its sections.

According to Mr Kuzmin, the widening design is to be elaborated by the end of 2009.
