OREANDA-NEWS. November 11, 2009. The sixth Airbus А330 aircraft was delivered to JSC “Aeroflot – Russian Airlines”. The airliner is painted with the new SkyTeam alliance livery, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.

According to a decision taken in early 2008, all member companies of the alliance assumed a commitment to paint at least one aircraft of their fleet in the colors of SkyTeam.

Aeroflot has made its choice in favor of its new А330-300 liner. Such marketing move is intended to promote SkyTeam and member airlines brand recognition in the current situation of the economic crisis, and to bolster the alliance presence in the world air transportation market.

The А330 in the SkyTeam livery is the sixth aircraft of this type delivered to Aeroflot under the terms of the operating lease transaction. The lessor is AerCap. Four more А330-300 aircraft are expected to be delivered before April, 2010.

А330-300 aircraft have a range up to 10,500 km, a capacity of 302 passengers and are used by leading international air carriers in the segment of long-haul operations. The aircraft are equipped with the Rolls-Royce Trent 772В engines.

These new liners, as delivered to Aeroflot, have a two-class cabin layout: 34 business class seats and 268 economy class seats. They are equipped with the cutting-edge Panasonic eX 2 IFE system featuring wide screen 9” to 16” video monitors installed into each passenger seat allowing the use of a multichannel video-audio program. In the business class, unfolding “cocoon” seats are installed. In the economy class cabin, the seat pitch is increased to make passengers more comfortable.

Aeroflot operates А330s on both international and domestic flights.

Currently, А330s are in service on routes to Beijing, Havana, Vladivostok and London.
