GRP of Bukhara Region Grows 4,6%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 11, 2009. Activists of Bukhara region discussed the results of socio-economic development in the first nine months of this year and questions about the implementation of measures discussed by President Islam Karimov on 13 February meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, including priority tasks of deepening economic reforms. The meeting was chaired by the hokim of Bukhara region S. Husenov, reported the Official website gov.uz.
The rate of growth of gross regional product for the past nine months amounted to 4.6 per cent. Manufacturing industry increased by 2,6 percent, agriculture – by 1,3 percent, construction – by 16,3 per cent, retail trade – by 19,9 per cent. New employed people totaled 60 thousand; most of the new jobs are in the countryside.
13 projects attracted 178,5 billion sums of investment, through the inclusion of industrial modernization program. Five manufacturing entities put into operation according to the plan of development, technical and technological rearmament of enterprises of the leading sectors of the economy.
An important factor in enhancing the competitiveness of products in foreign markets is to reduce the cost.
At the meeting special attention was paid to the shortcomings and how to address them.
The production declined significantly compared to the same period last year at eight industrial enterprises such as “Buhoroyog”, cotton gins in Bukhara and Shafirkan areas. It was noted that to improve the situation at these facilities, there is a need to strengthen the raw material base and expand the range of products to equip the industry with modern equipment to produce consumer goods.
The meeting paved the way for the main directions and parameters for the creation of new jobs in 2010 and to ensure its implementation by sectors in the region.
Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan E. Shaismatov made a speech at the meeting of the activists of the region.
