OREANDA-NEWS. November 10, 2009. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, as compared with the same period of the last year, the consumer prices in Moldova have decreased by 1,6%.

Since the beginning of the year, prices in Moldova fell by 1,4%. Consumer prices in October 2009 as compared with the last month have grown by 1.5% due to the increase in food prices - 3%, non-foodstuffs prices - 0.7% and tariffs for services rendered to population - 0,8%. In particular, the prices of dietary eggs has grown by 19.6%, fresh vegetables -19,1% (including tomatoes -48,8%, cucumbers - 29,4% and eggplants -13,3%), sugar -13.3%.

At the same time, the prices for potatoes fell by 1,1%, poultry meat - by 1,3%, apples, pears - by 1.7% and cabbages - by 1,8%, respectively. In October 2009, the prices have risen for hygiene means- by 3,6%, winter shoes - 1,8%, detergents and medicines -1,4%, gasoline- 1,2%. The prices for the most non-foodstuffs have not significantly changed– plus-minus 0.6%.

The tariffs for potable water and sewerage services have increased by 6,3%, passenger transportation by urban auto and electrical transport- 17,2%, postal services- 17,7% as well as tickets to theater performances - 5,5%.

At the same time, in October 2009 the tariffs for the natural gas supplies through centralized network have reduced by 3,6%. As a result, the tariffs for communal housing services have decreased by 0,3%.
