Turkmenistan and Japan Develop New Prospects of Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2009. A meeting with the Japanese delegation led by Nobukatsu Kanehara, Special Representative for Central Asia of the MFA of Japan, who was on a visit to Ashgabat, was conducted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan
The talks focused on the issues related to the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan, which was scheduled for this December. In the context of this significant event the sides put emphasis on the need to build the firm legal basis of the Turkmen-Japanese relations to foster long-term, mutually advantageous cooperation in various fields.
Appreciating the positive dynamics the relations between Turkmenistan and Japan built on a traditionally friendly, respectful and equitable basis the sides spotlighted the new opportunities and prospects for strengthening and expanding partnerships. In this regard the participants of the meeting focused on the importance of conducting a regular meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Committee in the framework of the Turkmen leader’s visit to Japan.
During the talks particular emphasis was put on collaboration between two states in the framework of the international organisations, the UN in particular. In this regard the sides noted with satisfaction the Turkmenistan and Japan had reached an understanding on a number of the key issues of global and regional development and stood steadfast to strengthening peace, stability and sustainable development.
