OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2009. According to the European Federation of Leasing Company Associations, LEASEUROPE ranking, the leader of the Russian retail automobile leasing market, Europlan, has taken the first place among Russian companies in Europe. Europlan is presented in top-30 by volumes of automobile and self-propelled transport leasing. In 2008 the Company contracted more than EUR 390 million of new business, and its lease portfolio increase presented 65% against 7% growth in the industry, reported the press-centre of Europlan.

As for automobile and self-propelled transport leasing, Europlan also confirmed its leadership among Russian leasing companies, keeping 26th rank in the European rating. In 2008 in given market segment the Company realized over EUR 221 million.

In the eighth annual ranking among hundreds of largest European leasing companies (this was the third rating, included Russian leasing companies) 106 businesses were analyzed. They operated in 25 European countries and were nominated by 47 leasing associations, uniting more than 2000 leasing companies in Europe. Their new business volume amounted to about EUR 330 million in 2008.

"We are up by 10 positions and now presented in top-30 of automobile leasing companies in Europe. This fact is of great importance not only for us, but also for the Russian leasing industry as a whole. However, it should be noticed that the Russian leasing volumes began to reduce rapidly later than in Europe, in the end of 2008 – in the beginning of 2009. That is why everybody interested in the market results by the end of this year", - said Alexander Mikhaylov, Vice-President for Business Development of Europlan.
