OREANDA-NEWS. November 05, 2009. The investment project commenced by Nibulon Ltd will bring the huge economic effect for Ukraine.

The investment programme of the company at the cost of 150 million USD includes: building of 24 dump barges of mixed “river-sea” type with total deadweight of 108 thousand tons and building of 14 sea and river tugboats, also construction of 8 grain elevators and river terminals. The main aim of the project is to revive transportation on the Dnipro river and to transport grains from river silos to the port.

The important fact is that realization of this investment project will provide the additional supply of 4 billion UAH for budget of agrarian sector from realization of agricultural products. There is no need in any budgetary funds; the only condition is assistance in realization of the investment programme. These supplies will be possible for the account of reduction in logistics prices. In the result of that the prices for agricultural commodities will rise from 50 till 100 UAH for one ton on the territory of Left-bank  Ukraine and the nearest regions of Right-bank Ukraine.

The building of the own fleet will reduce logistics that is why it is significant economy versus auto transport and rail traffic and relieve traffic artery. First of all producers of agricultural commodities from Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv and Zaporizhzhya regions have advantages. Purchase prices in these regions will be approximate to the prices which are in Ukrainian sea ports. Costs of agricultural commodities producers for transportation of agricultural products will reduce significantly that is actual in conditions of economic crisis.

Somebody believes that such standards, numbers for such a short period of time is impossible. But there are some facts: the building of three elevator complexes in Vitovo village Cherkasy region, Pomodan village and Globyno Poltava region have been already built. For the period of building 146 building and construction organizations took part in this process. If you take into account workers of OJSC “Wadan Yards Okean” who took part in building so the total amount of people engaged in realization of the investment project includes about 4 thousand people.

The President of Ukraine V.A.Yushchenko did us the great honour of opening an elevator in Vitovo village which was built according to the latest technologies. The President estimated the ability of our people to build high expertly and fast. The realization of this building which V.A. Yushchenko christened as “a project of good mood”, “a model labour”, and “a good compliment for Cherkasy region and the whole Ukraine” is acknowledged stimulus for the development of our country.

105 million UAH was allocated and one thousand builders were engaged during the record short terms of building of this branch only for two months.

In plans construction of four elevators in Zaporizhzhya and Poltava regions for the nearest time. But this time the number of building organizations will increase from 146 till 200 and the number of workers will be about 15 thousand people instead of 10 thousand people engaged during the previous building. Also the company leads the work concerning siting ground areas for port terminals building in Kirovograd, Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy regions. For today the fleet of the company counts 4 dump barges. On the 11th of August 2009 the first dump barge of Nibulon called NBL-001 was launched, on the 28th of August 2009 the next three barges were launched. On the 20th of October 2009 the next four barges will be launched on the OJSC “Wadan Yards Okean”. Everything of that was built, brought into operation only for six months. For comparison such foreign programmes are realized only for a year and a half or two years.

So the company plans to build the most present-day elevators and the total capacity of elevators which have to be brought into operation to the end of 2009, it is the first stage of the project, is 300 thousand tons.    Till the 1st of July 2010, taking into account the capacity of elevators of the second stage, the capacity will double till 600 thousand tons.

Agrarians can sell about 2.5 million tons of grain crop in case of realization of the investment project. It will get off a problem of elevator capacity deficit in central part of Ukraine (Cherkasy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovks regions).

This investment project of Nibulon carries economic significance from the point of view of creation the own fleet because it is a complex programme. Firmly speaking OJSC “Wadan Yards Okean”, a leader of domestic shipbuilding, is involved in this process for 100% because of Nibulon. For the whole period of cooperation of Nibulon and OJSC “Wadan Yards Okean” (from April 2009 till the end of 2010), the last one involved all its staff and also involves about 1000 workers of other shipbuilding companies from Mykolayiv and the whole Ukraine.

Nibulon is a good example and truly saying the realization of such two investment projects at Ukrainian shipbuilding yards can facilitate to overcome the crisis in shipbuilding branch.

This project of the company is a new stage and the highest level in its development. We learnt how to grow grains and to sell it at world markets. The company is a good example of  model for Ukraine as an agrarian country. It is an example that an agrarian sector of Ukraine  has to be motive power of development in all branches of domestic economics. Nowadays Nibulon exports grain crops in 35 countries of the world, wins in state tenders of importers, provides builders, shipbuilders and metallurgists with work.

A necessity of more rational grain transportation by water transport arisen and as the result of it an idea of navigation revival and creation of own fleet appeared. 

Such facts of range of the building project of 24 barges are: it is necessary  23.5 thousand tons of special shipbuilding steel that is equal of the delivery by 350 rail wagons. This is enough for building of two vessels like PANAMAX type (vessels of maximum size which can call in Mykolayiv). The square of metal would be 262320 square meters if it was put like all-in-one-piece and that is equal to 26 hectares of land or a square of 37 football fields. In order to build a vessel from separated sheets of metal high-qualified welders who are specially certified by register of navigation have to do 360 kilometers of welds. It will be welded 144 km of webbing for necessary strength including flat-bulb steel. A vessel length is 90 m and total length of all Nibulon vessels is almost 3 km.

   During the building of dump vessels and tug boats of all investment programme  about 40 thousand tons of shipbuilding steel will be bought and it is one more evidence of new vacancies for Ukrainian metallurgical companies.

Dump vessels and tug boats will be registered in Mykolayiv, they will be built and exploited under control of Ukrainian Register of navigation, they will be under Ukrainian flag. So we can speak about the revival of Ukrainian fleet!

So the realization of the investment project of the company will renew existence of Dnieper traffic centre and it will revive Dnieper as a transport artery of Ukraine. Planned volumes of river grain transportation will be more than 1 million tons per year. Operation of fleet permits to commit container river transportations a potential of which will be 18 thousand TEU. Using of dump vessels gives the opportunity to commit transportations up and down Dnieper, Danube and also in coastal Black Sea zone and in Caspian Sea.

We can say proudly that Ukrainian customer realizes the investment project together with its countrymen shoulder to shoulder. They are planners, suppliers of metal, shipbuilders, builders etc. In order to achieve high realization of the project everybody has to cooperate and then any crisis storms aren’t terrifying.
