Azerbaijan Observes 54% Fall in State Securities Turnover
OREANDA-NEWS. November 05, 2009. For Jan-Sept 2009 Azerbaijani state securities market fell by 54.3% compared to last year’s same term and reached US3.3 bn in accord with exchange rate by the reported date.
The State Securities Committee informs that as of 1st October 2009 the volume of state securities market made AZN 2.65 bn versus AZN 5.8 bn for Jan-Sept 2008 or 2 fold less.
“Over the first 9 months of the year it was registered 812 deals versus 1,725 deals for last year’s same period,” it was informed.
In September alone it was registered securities for AZN 100.57 million.
This year’s market is still provided mainly by repo transactions with state securities, turnover on which (AZN 1.8 bn on 600 deals) dropped by 54.1% compared to the 2008 same term (AZN 3.949 bn on 1,270 deals).
Placement of Central Bank’s short-term notes fell by 54.7% (AZN 1.786 bn on 585 deals versus AZN 3.94 bn on 1,264 deals a year before).
