OREANDA-NEWS. November 03, 2009. COMSTAR – United TeleSystems (COMSTAR-UTS, LSE: CMST), the leading provider of integrated telecommunication solutions in Russia and the CIS, together with Yandex, one of the leading Internet companies in Russia, has launched an additional information service STREAM.Marshrut (route) by Yandex.Probki (traffic jams) for users of interactive digital TV (IPTV) in Moscow.

The new information TV service has been developed based on Yandex.Probki web service (probki.yandex.ru) and integrated in STREAM TV interactive TV menu. It provides up-to-date information on a current traffic condition in Moscow through STREAM TV user interface.

Current data on congestion of Moscow streets and highways shown on the map and updated on a real-time basis are displayed on a TV screen using a remote control. To do this, a subscriber needs to choose a relevant menu item. Thus, STREAM.Marshrut by Yandex.Probki as well as other useful services such as STREAM.Pogoda (weather forecast) and STREAM.Kursy Valyut (exchange rates) provide COMSTAR IPTV users with quick, simple and convenient access to the required information without the need to interrupt favorite programs and movies and to search this info using scattered resources. In the menu interface, this service will be titled as Yandex Traffic Jams.

The cost of STREAM.Marshrut by Yandex.Probki available to STREAM TV, STREAM INTERNET + STREAM TV users as well as to Internet from MGTS users subscribed to one of STREAM TV packages is included in the subscription fee, which remains unchanged.

We hope that it will make IPTV even more attractive to subscribers,” Maxim Chernov, COMSTAR-UTS Marketing Director, says. “Any driver will agree that the information on the road traffic state is as important in a city as weather forecast. Now, thanks to this new service, STREAM TV subscribers will be able to plan their best route and choose appropriate driving time right in front of their TV screens.”
